Frequently Asked Questions

Why menus can be missing, how updates work and what the website deliberately does not show.

Short answer

Missing menus are often normal, not a broken page.

If today is a weekend, holiday period or a quiet campus season, a restaurant may not publish a menu. We show empty days honestly and only display real menu data when it exists.

Menus Why are menus missing from many restaurants?

The most common reason is the restaurant’s own publishing schedule. During weekends, holidays, semester breaks or summer season, many student restaurants do not publish menus at all or publish the next week’s menu only on Monday. If a source page changes, is temporarily unavailable or leaves the day empty, we do not invent menu data.

Today’s menu Why does the website show only one real menu?

The website is designed for quickly checking the relevant lunch menu of the day. We primarily show the current menu so restaurant pages stay clear, especially on mobile. If today has no menu, we show that clearly and then show the next available menu day. Browsing future days and saving favourites work best in the app.

Weekends Why do I often see “No menu for this day” on Saturday or Sunday?

Many campus restaurants are closed on weekends or do not serve student lunch. Some publish Monday’s menu only on Monday morning. Because of that, missing weekend menus are often expected.

Seasonality Why does the data look incomplete during summer, Christmas or semester breaks?

Student restaurants often follow the campus calendar. Summer holidays, Christmas break, Easter, public holidays and quieter study periods can affect opening hours and menu publishing. If a restaurant does not publish a menu, we do not fill it in ourselves.

Updates How often are menus updated?

Menus are refreshed automatically from their sources several times per day. The update process cannot show information that the restaurant has not published yet or that is temporarily unavailable from the source.

Accuracy Can I rely on prices, allergens and dietary labels?

We aim to keep the information useful and current, but the restaurant is the final source for ingredients, allergens, prices and availability. Always verify important allergy and dietary information directly with the restaurant before buying.

Map Why can a location or opening hour be wrong?

Locations and opening hours may come from restaurant websites, public sources or other source material. If a campus moves, a restaurant changes name or the source updates later, there can be a delay.

App Why should I download the app if the website works?

In the app you can save favourite restaurants, return faster to your own places and use app-specific features. The website is a lightweight directory and restaurant profile preview.

Corrections How do I report a mistake in a menu or restaurant profile?

Send a message to info@opiskelijaravintolat.app. Include the restaurant name, city, incorrect detail and the correct source if you have one. We fix clear errors as soon as practical.

New places How can I suggest a missing restaurant or city?

Send the suggestion to info@opiskelijaravintolat.app. We need at least the restaurant name, city, menu source and whether it serves student-priced lunch.

Privacy Does the website use cookies or track users?

The website currently does not use third-party analytics, advertising pixels or non-essential cookies. The app and website have separate privacy pages because their use cases and technical behaviour differ.
